J41/ L'arnaque/The scam

Arnaque dans notre quartier. Deux hommes se faisant passer pour le service des encombrants ont sonné à notre porte pour leurs étrennes en échange d'un calendrier. Bien sûr nous sommes tombés dans le panneau. Deux jours plus tard, après avoir été prévenus par l'association de quartier, deux hommes étaient arrêtés. 

Merci Madeleine pour la recette de gâteau crétois, c'est délicieux. Nous n'avons pas pu attendre le dîner pour en manger.

Most of us in our neighborhood have been scammed. Two men claiming they were from the bulky items pick-up services were asking for Holiday tips. When offered a calendar, we fell into the trap...

The two men were arrested a couple of days after we were alerted by the neighborhood association. 

Thank you Madeleine for the recipe... the cake is delicious. We were not able to wait till supper to start eating it.

Des oignons: l'occasion pour moi de trouver que la foire aux oignons qui se déroule chaque année à Givet au nord-est de la France, a été annulée pour cette année. Cette foire est organisée depuis 1530 et officialisée en 1806 par Napoléon.

Onions: a good opportunity for me to talk about the traditional Onion Fair happening every year in Givet, north-east France, which has been cancelled due to Covid-19. This fair has been around since 1530 and made official in1806 by Napoleon.
